Commonweal wins Gold IADA Award for 2021 Annual Review

In It Together, the 2021 annual review from Commonweal Housing, has won a Gold Award at the International Annual Report Design Awards.

In It Together celebrated the achievements of Commonweal’s partnerships with frontline organisations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, serving those hit hardest by the housing and coronavirus crises.

The report presented a range of recommendations to providers of housing and support services, based on a range of projects and research supported by Commonweal – from the accountability deficit in the exempt accommodation sector, to the scarcity of appropriate housing options for female victims of trafficking.

In It Together was produced by Megan Fereday, Comms Officer at Commonweal, and designed by Ian Cuthbert of Cuthbert Design.

For almost 25 years, Ian has provided specialist marketing and communications support to charities, social enterprises and community organisations. Ian provides a wide range of design, marketing and photography services, informed by a decade of previous experience working in community development, regeneration and social housing.

Ian said, “I’m absolutely thrilled that Commonweal Housing’s annual report won a Gold award in the International Annual Report Design Awards!”

“Good design is always a co-production between the client, the designer and other stakeholders. Creating a successful annual report requires a great brief, well written, well structured copy and excellent communication between client and designer. Megan and the Commonweal team were a delight to work with and I’m grateful to have had the privilege to help them let the world know about their remarkable contributions to tackling social injustice.”

Megan said, “It’s an immense honour to have produced Commonweal’s first award-winning annual review. In It Together illustrated the achievements of the most challenging year that Commonweal and our partners have faced together: a year in which housing solutions to social injustices were more urgently needed than ever.”

“I am so proud to have our work recognised by this prestigious award, and to see this review standing alongside such an impressive roster of IADA award recipients. Congratulations to all this year’s winners, and to all my colleagues, trustees and partners of Commonweal who made our work possible this year.”
