The Charity Times Awards are highly regarded in the charity sector, and we are delighted to be recognised among leading charities and not-for-profits that deliver vital services.

Commonweal received the Property Innovation Award in recognition of our unique property investment model, which enables us to acquire properties for front-line organisations to test ways housing can solve social injustices.

By either utilising our own capital funds or leveraging social investment, Commonweal has built a diverse property portfolio across the UK used to deliver supported housing schemes for vulnerable groups.

Since 2006, we have partnered with around 20 front-line organisations to deliver a number of multi-year pilot projects. From addressing the needs of survivors of domestic abuse or supporting young people at risk of homelessness, our pilots aim to unlock new learnings to influence policy and improve best practice.

Ashley Horsey, Chief Executive at Commonweal Housing, said: "We are thrilled that Commonweal's unique property model has been recognised by the esteemed judges of the Charity Times Awards. As we approach our 20th anniversary in 2026, this award marks a significant achievement for us. For the past two decades, property has been central to Commonweal's mission to find housing-based solutions to broader social issues."

“We extend thanks to all our project partners and social investors whose collaboration makes our work possible, including a special thank you to our principal benefactors and colleagues at Grove End Housing."
