Why 'Commonweal'?

Commonweal (n) public welfare, the common good (Oxford Concise English Dictionary)

Our name is taken from “for commonweal and liberty” the family motto of the great Scottish housing pioneer, innovator and public benefactor Sir John Mactaggart who, in the 1930’s, provided investments that underpin the source of funds that now enable us to carry forward his vision of resolving social injustice through housing.
